Christopher Lubinski: Baghdad Cairo

Most often I tend to enjoy the adventure to place rather than what I get out of place. I am more of an adventurous person so I look for the joy and experiences that come in going from place to place. The poem by Rumi, In Baghdad, Dreaming of Cairo; In Cairo, Dreaming of Baghdad, the journey the narrator goes on has a greater impact on him than when he gets to the location he intended to get to.

Traveling to locations usually have a greater impact on my life because the I tend to have a greater experience of communitas. While on trips, especially on band trips in high school, me and my friends tend to have a greater experience while on a journey to a location. This is because the experiences on the journey are more impactful than the initial location because the journey creates a sense of communitas through the shared experiences we all shared while on the trip.
