Kayla Hammond - Lions Bridge Class

A little over a month ago Dr. Reddick held a class at the Lions Bridge. My friend and I decided to ride our bikes over. As we were leaving we were bummed by the sudden raindrops we felt but were eager to have a class in nature. Often times I forget the peace that nature brings about.

I abruptly entered class full of energy while everyone else was silently appreciating the sounds of nature. The sounds of birds chirping and water crashing against the shore were heard afar. As I looked off into the horizon I watched a bird swoop down into the water and glide across the water. We then walked through the woods admiring all the different trees and plants. There were tall skinny trees with white on top that I like to call spooky trees because they remind of Halloween, there was also purple flowers pollinated by humming birds and a prickly vine that stabbed me. The purpose of this class was to understand how nature communicates, when the prickly vine stabbed me I understood that the vine felt threatened by me. Eventually, Dr. Redick left us to explore on our own as I was walking back we noticed three deer in the woods. This moment reminded me of my childhood and how I was once scared of deer but as I stood there I noticed the fear in the deers' eyes, it felt as if I was staring back at my younger self.
