Keelyn Graves: Landscapes of the Sacred 2
In "Seeking a Sacred Center: Places and Themes in Native American Spirituality" there is a quote that says "The sacred center is thus essentially a neo-geographical entity,m a created thing, ultimately an illusion, yet paradoxically, also a place more real than real." This I think, sums up the chapter pretty well. There are also said to be five places that correrlate with five themes in Native American spirituality. They suggest that anything outside the environment they live in is too vast to comprehend and therefore is not relevant in their mythos and spirituality. This makes summarizing the holy by which the Indian natives saw it as a impossible task. So one must think for themselves, how does one understand the mythos from the Indian point of view, if there is nothing but alien feelings and landscapes?
