Safe Place and Nature
People frequently talk about having a safe space. Mainly they mean you can just be yourself or speak your mind and that people wont be judgmental. This can be valuable and become a place where someone can come to understand themselves better. Although in my experiences these types of situations are seldom as effective as people hope they are. People are often silently judgmental and I know I have felt like a "safe space" is definitely not a judgment free zone.
It is difficult to have an open mind. It takes practice to try and understand other people and how they see things. Most people don't do this enough. For me I feel like a great place to feel safe and trusted is in a situation like we talked about in class where a group on pilgrimage becomes very close to each other. When you have a very closely knit group of people who all get along you can start to open up and they are more understanding and willing to talk openly about things.
Another place is just being out in nature and the wilderness. There is a humbling feeling when you see the vast beauty of nature and this can aid you in self reflection.
